David Fetterman was the son of Hannah Leiby and Simon Fetterman born in Roaring Creek Township, Columbia County, PA. He married Sarah Bittner, daughter of Rebecca Fetterman and George Bittner. Eleven children were born of this marriage:

• Clara Rebecca;
• Laura Agnes;
• Adam Wilson;
• Oliver H.;
• Daisy;
• Samuel Oscar;
• Adda Celeste;
• George Wilmer;
• Burleigh; and
• Pius E.

Sarah and David lived in Locust Township, Columbia County, PA, throughout their entire marriage where David made his living farming. Sarah died without a Will, and a Letter of Administration was granted to David Fetterman on March 13, 1919. Smaller plaques with their names and some of their children surround this headstone.
