Elizabeth Saul Fetterman
January 14, 1785 - April 4, 1844

Elizabeth was the daughter of Leonard Saul. Her mother died when she was two years of age. She married George, son of Catharine Yeager and George Fetterman, and shortly after their marriage, they moved to a farm near the village of Numidia, PA. After Elizabeth's father-in-law died, her mother-in-law Catharine came to live with them and died there in 1812. The following inscription on her headstone, written in German, is translated below:

ELIZABETH,
Wife of George Fetterman, Was born Jan. 14th, 1785, in Maxatawny, Berks County, Pa. She was baptised and confirmed a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church— Sponsers, Jacob and Magdalena Kreiger. She was married July 29th, 1806, and was blessed with twelve children—nine sons and three daughters. She died April 4th, 1844, Aged 59 years, 2 months, 21 days. |

As you can see from the picture, the writing on the headstone is almost illegible at this point.
