Elizabeth was the daughter of Leonard Saul. Her mother died when she was two years of age. She married George, son of Catharine Yeager and George Fetterman, and shortly after their marriage, they moved to a farm near the village of Numidia, PA. After Elizabeth's father-in-law died, her mother-in-law Catharine came to live with them and died there in 1812. The following inscription on her headstone, written in German, is translated below:
(From the Genealogy of Joseph Fisher, and His Descendants, and of the Allied Families of Farley, Farlee, Fetterman, Pitner, Reeder, and Shipman, compiled by Clarence Woodward Fisher, 1890.) As you can see from the picture, the writing on the headstone is almost illegible at this point. Picture of headstone was taken on June 24, 2003. |
