Jacob was the son of Catherine and George Fetterman and was born in Upper Milford Township, Berks County, PA. He and his wife Elizabeth made their home first in Catawissa, Columbia County, PA, where Jacob followed the occupation of farming and by 1840 were living in Roaring Creek Township in Columbia County. In January 2003, I came upon the following information of Jacobs birth through Rootsweb, Lehigh Church, Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County, PA, Births/Baptisms, Confirmations, Deaths c. 1750-1790, Genealogists Guide to Lehigh Church, Mahantongo Roots #2.0, where it lists the following birth/baptismal record:
As you can see from the headstone above, it obviously broke, and the top piece was nowhere to be found on my visit to Numidia. Obviously, one of his children is also buried with him, having lived for only ten months and 20 days. The closeup of the picture shows that he died on April 2, 1854. A Letter of Administration which was granted to Charles Fetterman and Osborn Williams, Elizabeth and ______ Fetterman. This Letter of Administration was filed by his widow on April 12, 1854, and granted on April 13, 1854 (Bond No. 12). The name Feterman is also mispelled on the headstone.
