Naomi Ruth Patterson George

Albert was the oldest son of Pauline Kreider and Albert Lee George, Sr. He married for the first time when he was seventeen years of age. That marriage produced one child, a son, and lasted just three years.

He worked as a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad and was transferred to Baltimore, Maryland. Naomi had attended the same church as Albert when they were children, and she started dating Albert after his separation. Shortly after his divorce, he married Naomi, daughter of Marie Catherine Fetterman and John Erwin Patterson. They were married in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 8, 1942.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion and was an avid football fan. Albert retired in 1975 due to severe phlebitis in both his legs. He suffered a heart attack while driving home, and left behind his wife, six children, and 13 grandchildren. He was also the father-in-law of Robert Thomas Brown. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered in the cemetery.

After Albert’s death, Naomi continued to live in their home until 1991. She sold the home and went to live with her daughter and son-in-law, who is also the writer and host of this website. She traveled to California, the Grand Canyons, Florida, and Tennessee, and continued with her crafts of sewing and needlepoint which were quite exquisite until she could no longer see to do them. Naomi suffered from macular degeneration and emphysema, and after a very long battle with the emphysema, she passed on March 14.

It was her wish to have her cremains buried with her parents and sister Mary Jane, and she was explicit about having her maiden name added to her headstone. She wanted no one to be confused as to whom she was. A regular funeral service was held for her on Wednesday, May 4, 2005. For a more complete history of Naomi, you can visit The Family of Marie Catherine Fetterman Patterson.

Headstone documented May 2005.
