Rose M. Miller Fetterman

Jay, son of Stella A. Witchey and William Benjamin Fetterman, was born in Allentown, PA. He received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Lehigh University. In December 1940, he married Rose Maryann Miller, daughter of Carrie A. Merkel and Robert V. Miller. Jay was listed on the 1920 and 1930 censuses with his parents, and he was listed in the 1942 Allentown City Directory as being a metallurgical observer for Bethlehem Steel. At that time, he and Rose were living on Linden Street in Allentown, PA.

Jay worked for Bethlehem Steel for six years and went to work as an engineer for Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in Trexlertown, PA. He created a number of departments while there, and he was granted five patents. He worked there for 36 years before retiring in 1982. As a member of Air Products’ retiree organization, he served as the editor of the newsletter for the retirees.

He was a 60-year member of both the Jordan Lodge 673, F.&A.M. and Allen Chapter 203, now the Jordan Lodge. He was also a member of Chapter 203 of Royal Arch Masons, the Emmaus Lion's Club, the Promised Land Cabin Owner's Association, the Order of the Demolay, Allentown Chapter, and the Seventy Plus Ski Club as well as vice-president of the residents council of Luther Crest, Allentown.

Rose was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star—former Anna Penn Allen Chapter 145, Allentown, and they were both members of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Emmaus, PA.

One son and three daughters were born of this marriage. As their children are all still living, no other information will be offered here.
