Susannah Mensch Craig Fetterman
October 18, 1840 - September 7, 1897

Susannah, the daughter of Catherine and Abraham Mensch, was first married to Amzy Craig who died March 6, 1892. She and Jacob, son of Elizabeth and Charles Fetterman of Roaring Creek Township, Columbia County, PA, were married on July 4, 1896. The marriage was not announced in the Catawissa News Item until July 6, 1916, in the “Retrospects” column. This was a second marriage for both Susannah and Jacob.

She died on Tuesday, September 7, 1897, with a Will that was witnessed by Urias Fetterman and Joseph Helwig. Her Will states that:

1. She be interred beside her 1st husband Amzy Craig;
2. Her headstone be the same as that of her former husband;
3. A certain quilt shall go to Hannah C. Bittner;
4. Her sisters Polly Bittner, Charles Mensch, Adam Mensch, and Sarah Bittner shall each have a quilt;
5. Her debts be paid;
6. All the rest of her belongings shall go to her husband Jacob Fetterman.

They were married only a year when Susannah died aged 56 years, 10 months, 19 days, and there were no children born of this marriage. I have a copy of her Will which can be read in its entirety by clicking here.
