Arlene Mae Bohner and John Emeral Patterson

John Emerald or “Jack or Pat” as he was also known, was the first son and fifth child born to Marie Catherine Fetterman and John Erwin Patterson of Delano, Schuylkill County, PA. Sometime after his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he served on a submarine and was honorably discharged after World War II. After discharge, Jack returned to marry his high-school sweetheart, Arlene Mae Bohner, daughter of Margaret Jenkin and Harvey Bohner of Treverton, Northumberland County, PA.

Jack and Arlene first made their home in Trevorton where he worked in the coal mines. They moved to Duncannon, PA, when Jack was hired at the Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg to work in photography. After he retired from the Naval Depot, he then went to work for a magazine publishing company. He and Arlene raised four sons, all still living. Jack enjoyed golfing and was very active with all of his children and grandchildren. They are buried next to their granddaughter, Julie Lin Patterson. The inscription on their plaque reads “Together Forever.”
