Adah Luella Patterson Garner Moses and Howard J. Garner

Adah Luella was the youngest daughter born to Mary C. Chamberlain and George Adam Patterson of Weatherly Borough, Carbon County, PA. She was baptized with her brother John on March 11, 1883, at the Evangelical Lutheran Zion’s Church in Weatherly Borough. In the census for 1910, Adah was still living at home and working as a forewoman of sick kids.

She married for the first time Howard J. Garner, son of Hannah and Winfield Garner, also of Weatherly Borough. They were married approximately three months when Howard died, presumedly from an influenza epidemic.

In 1920, she was living with her widowed father and was now working as a milliner out of their home. She married for the second time about 1927 to William A. Moses, who was of Welsh descent.

In 1930, Adah and William were renting a home on Tamaqua Street in Audenreid Village, Carbon County, PA, and William was working as an inside foreman in the coal mines. No children were born from either marriage, and her second husband died before her. It was her wish that she be buried beside her first husband.

Picture of headstone was taken on September 24, 2003.
