Lena J. Fetterman and Adolph L. Friday

Lena was the daughter of Mary Rebecca Fetterman and Samuel E. Fetterman, of Aristes, PA. In 1918, she married Adolph Lewis Friday, son of Emma Burge and Adolph Friday, also of Aristes. They made their home in Wilburton No. 2, Columbia County, PA, and ten children were born of this marriage:

  1. Paul;
  2. Alfred S.;
  3. Emma;
  4. Clair E.;
  5. Alice;
  6. Adolph L., Jr.;
  7. Nancy J.;
  8. Ruth;
  9. Lena; and
  10. Donna.

During their early marriage, Adolph worked as a clerk in a general store. He later became a miner for the Hazelbrook Mine Company, where he worked until his retirement in 1955. Besides being a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Aristes, Lena belonged to the P. O. A. Lodge in Shamokin and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Wilburton No. 2 Fire Company. Adolph was a member of the Union Evengelical Church in Wilburton, No. 2, the Wilburton No. 2 Fire Company, and the Mt. Carmel VFW. At the time of Lena’s death, they had been married 55 years.
