Christianna Fetterman & Gera Eveland

Christianna, the oldest daughter born to Elizabeth Miller and Daniel Fetterman, was born in Centralia, Columbia County, PA. On September 26, 1885, Christianna married Gera, the son of Harriet and John Eveland of Slabtown, Locust Township, Columbia County, PA. The marriage was announced in the Catawissa News Item on October 1, 1885 (from the records of the Columbia County Historical and Genealogical Society). In 1900, they were living in Mt. Carmel Borough, Northumberland County, where they were renting a home and Gera was working as a day laborer. The census for that year shows that Christianna had six children with only five living. The children born of this marriage:

  1. Irvin;
  2. Flora;
  3. Jennie;
  4. Flossie; and
  5. Russell.

As of 1910, they were living in Locust Township, Columbia County with four of their children and Christianna’s widowed mother where Gera had purchased a farm. By 1920, they were now living in Conyngham Township with their son and grandson, and Gera was working as a carpenter in the coal mines. In 1930, they now owned their home in the same township and Gera continued to work as a carpenter. Only their grandson remained with them at this time.

Headstone documented May 30, 2004.
