Mary Alice was the oldest daughter born to Sarah Longenberger and Isaac Fetterman, born in Aristes, Conyngham Township, Columbia County, PA. She married Charles E., son of Rachel and Daniel Rhoades of Locust Township, Columbia County, and they made their home in Aristes. Throughout his adult life, Charles worked in the mines.
Of this marriage, seven children were born:

- Alice E.
