Edith was a daughter of Emma Fetterman and Phillip Smith, and she was born in Slocum, Luzerne County, PA. About 1918, she married Oley B. (Ode) Bowman, and they made their home in Newport Township, Luzerne County. By this union, eleven children were born. Except for one son, Howard W. Bowman, who died July 24, 1976, they are all still living. Oley died March 25, 1967.

Edith was employed by Consolidated Cigar Company in Berwick for five years, and she retired in 1977. She was a member of Ebenezer Faith Bible Church.

Prior to this marriage, Delroy was also married previously to a lady by the name of Beatrice. They made their home in North Wales Borough, Montgomery County, PA. It is unknown whether they had children.
