Roxie Delphine was the daughter of Lydia Ann Reichard and Lloyd Jonathan or “John” Fetterman. She first showed up in the 1900 census living with her parents in Conyngham Township, Columbia County, PA, attending school.

Roxie was married to Fred Blass August 25, 1906 in Aristes, PA. The marriage was performed by the Rev. P. H. Balsbaugh (License #6639).

Fred first showed up in the 1900 census working as a farm laborer in Roaring Creek for Joseph Helwig. He registered for the World War I draft September 12, 1918. At the time of registration, he resided in Aristes, PA. He reported his date of birth as May 27, 1882. At the time, he worked as a miner for Mr. Joseph Yarworth of the Lehigh Valley Coal Company in Columbia County, PA.

In 1910, Roxie and Fred appeared in Conyngham Township. They had been married four years, and Fred was working in the coal mines. They had one daughter at this time, Fanny D., who was ten months old. By 1920, they had completed their family with two more children: Carl and Margaret. By 1930, only the younger two children were living at home and Roxie’s widowed mother was living in the house next to theirs.
