Caroline Fetterman and Edward S. Werts

Caroline was the fifth of eleven children born to Sarah A. Wertz and William Henry Fetterman, a mill worker from Berwick Borough, Columbia County, PA. Caroline married Edward S., son of Adda Nedig and John Werts of Mifflinville Township, Columbia County, PA. They made their home in Berwick Borough, and five children were born of this marriage:

  1. Edward, b. July 29, 1923, d. January 1982;
  2. Sarah;
  3. Walter, b. December 21, 1926, d. January 15, 1999;
  4. Laura; and
  5. Ellen.

Edward worked for American Car & Foundry (ACF), Inc. A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of Moose, he was a steward of both organizations. He was Methodist in faith and attended St. Paul’s Methodist Church. Caroline was of the Lutheran faith, and she attended St. John Lutheran Church in Mifflinville. At the time of Edward’s death, they were married forty-nine years.
